Wine Making From Your Garden- Fruit and Vegetable Wines
Wine making is an important skill to most preppers and homesteaders even those that don’t drink it at all themselves. It’s a great barter tool and has its medicinal uses as well.
Wine can be made from fruits, vegetable, flowers, vines and even weeds! Turning a portion of your fall harvest into wine stores is a smart move. It stores long term without spoilage and because of the trade value.
Not all the wine you make will be or even should be used for barter. Keeping a comfortable number of bottles for your own group use. Medical uses of course should and will have priority in a SHTF scenario. However, don’t assume that because there has been a disaster that there will never be another special occasion which to use it. Attempting to carry on traditions and celebrations no matter how small or how different than they had been before the event will bring up morale and show especially the younger members of the group that life does and will go on, just not as we remember it.
