When Not to Set a Broken Bone
The example given in the featured article of how and when a bone can be broken when medical assistance is not readily available and might not be for a while is a good one that I know has happened more than once to various people of various skill levels of preparedness. It is kind of a Murphy’s law scenario if it can go wrong, it will!
Our instinct as humans especially if the injury effects a child is to fix it immediately. We are all aware of the pain involved, the risk of bone overgrowth when not properly set, the risk of muscle damage if left unattended and the possibly of long-term deformity of the limb.
