What Is the Insurrection Act?

Basically the Insurrection Act are laws enacted in the early 1800’s to determine if and when the President of the USA can send the American military within the United States to control rebellion by American citizens. The intention is to limit the president’s power as much as possible and allow state and local officials to deal with the situation if they are able.
