Uses for Corn Silk With Recipes
(3 links)
I love making use that we would ordinarily throw out! Corn silk is the hair that is between the corn husk and the corn kernels. It can be annoyingly difficult to remove. I have spent hours of my life picking corn silk off freshly husked corn. Until now it has been the only part of the corn harvest to go into the trash. Now the entire ear of corn, silk and all is usable.
If you love corn on the cob or even if you de-cob the ear before cooking everyone is aware that corn is a healthy option for a vegetable fresh, canned, frozen or even dehydrated for storage. For de-cobbing quickly and easily see >> Ingenious Method of De-cobbing Corn
The cob can be used for jelly or wine. Get the links for those recipes here >> Use The Cob! (Corn Cob Wine and Jelly Recipes)
The husks are a great addition to your compost adding nutrients to the soil or can be used in cooking as a wrap for tamales or seafood.
Now use the silk as well! See uses and recipes here from The Nerdy Farm Wife >> Uses for Corn Silk
