One of the most common things you could be working with isn’t necessarily a traditional form of material is the survival tarp. Cloth or Poly they will require some repairs along the way and some alternations to suit your specific needs. I recommend a particularly sharp needle for working with these materials and of a larger size if possible. Poly tears if the needle isn’t sharp enough and cloth tarps are a heavier material than is intended to be sewn by hand and the sharper the needle the easier it will be to get through the fibers. Not only a sharp needle is required here but a larger one as well. The threading material will be thicker to hold together such a heavy material and to prevent tearing when using poly material.
