I know my first thoughts when I think of bugging out are tramping through a wooded area, carrying more than I probably should, going as fast as I can toward a safe place. I think that is a mental picture probably shared by many. But the truth is we could be up to our knees or more in snow or in the cold pouring rain. Neither natural disasters nor manmade ones wait for the ideal weather to strike. They have no consideration for our comfort or safety.

We here in the majority of the USA have several cold months a year, worse in some parts of our country than others. Winter camping in harsh temperatures is a very real possibility for most of us. Staying warm and healthy will be a real survival challenge in a winter camp.
