I once lived in an area covered by an HOA that forbade clotheslines. I off course being a good law abiding rebel had to see if I could get away with using one anyway!. I was fortunate enough to have an Arizona room toward the front of my home facing the street and a garden shed that almost lined up with that jutting room in the back of the property. So without having to box in  my clothes line I was able to use one between the two structures without being obvious. At the time I had 4 of my 5 children living at home. Between the ages of 18 years and 6 months old. This meant a ton of laundry and having that clothes line not only helped satisfy the bit of rebel in me 😛 but saved me a bunch in energy costs.

Now that the child who was only 6 months old at the time is now 26 years old and I now live in a community where clotheslines are standard in almost every back yard. Of course it is at this stage in life I learn about the Solar Rights Act adapted by some states which overrides the state laws in several states that outright ban clotheslines HOA or not. To learn more about the Solar Rights Act and the laws of about 19 states that ban clotheslines continue at the link below
