SHTF in the City
Many preppers and prepping sites often speak as though living in a city is foolish and a death wish should the SHTF. I do understand their concerns and agree with some of them. But face it, not everyone can live in a rural area. Some who would like to simply can’t afford to just walk away from their jobs and homes, especially to prepare for something that may not happen for many years.
There are comforts only found in the city. You’re close to entertainment, employment, and often friends and family. Even though you can’t choose your neighbors, you might find that most of your neighbors are more like yourself than you think. Neighborhoods are often of the same economic stature, often populated by locals, and have the same issues as yourself. Another thing about neighborhoods is that there is always someone else around. To some people this is of comfort to others a nightmare. If you take the time to get to know your neighborhood you might be able to turn what is often viewed as a negative to a positive. No matter where you are it is fairly certain that a group has a better survival shot in the long term than the lone wolf.
So please don’t assume that if you are in a city when the SHTF that you’re doomed. Survival is more knowledge and attitude than location or gear. There are of course survival issues that are more prevalent in the city than in a rural area. SHTF Plan provides our featured blog about overcoming some of those obstacles some of which also relate to the lesser populated areas as well. See it linked below
