Preparing for Quarantine

Many of us have been leery of pandemics for sometime and have already taken steps to hunker down or shelter in place during an outbreak of any virus.

Sheltering in Place for a Pandemic

If you’re not already prepared to be quarantined NOW is the time to prepare to do so. If any virus travels at the rate that ebola did in Africa and if the protocols continue to be inadequate there will be a time when we as average citizens will have to take action on our own or eventually we will be ordered to do so to prevent an epidemic from becoming a total pandemic. Many feel that preparing to self quarantine is giving into the fear and will add to the panic that may come.

However, we were assured  ebola would never breach our shores. It did, we were told illness like this one were obsolete and don’t even vaccinate against things like small pox anymore. Thousands have died from these kinds of  illness. Medical professionals have been told they are safe if they take the proper precautions, they did and they weren’t safe.

So we’re wrong and outbreaks of serious illness don’t come to our shores.  Now your stuck with an extra 21-30 days of everyday supplies that will take you about 30 days to use up if you don’t go ahead and save them for the next storm that rolls through! What have you lost by being prepared to take action to protect yourself and ride out a quarantine comfortably? Had you not planned to eat for the next 30 days or so anyway?

If the time does come that we do need to take quarantine actions. I can promise you the shelves at your local grocery store will be empty and those who would ordinarily be restocking them will be home in self imposed or state ordered quarantine!
