The Practical Skills Mega-List
We know there are a lot of skills necessary to make our way in the world today. In a post SHTF world there are even more! Ones we aren’t taught in any public school and too often not at our parent’s sides either. Not because they are bad parents of course. But they are living in today’s world and teach their children how to navigate through that world as a priority. Many modern parents don’t have these skills themselves.
Which ones to learn and which are the most important . One way to insure you get the right skills would be to pick apart your daily life and think seriously about how that would change from how you do it today to what would be necessary to learn if the methods of today no longer apply. Just a for instance…. you want a salad for dinner tonight so you stop by the market and grab a bag of salad mix and a bottle of dressing and home you go. In a post SHTF world there isn’t a vehicle to run to the market in, there are no markets at all to shop in, there aren’t any bags of salad fixings and no more bottled dressing. You would have to have planted, tended, and harvested your greens, foraged safely for additional ingredients, cleaned and prepped them yourself and then prepared the dressing from scratch as well. A much longer planning period for sure as well as different life skills to obtain the same end. It sounds flippant but it is incredibly accurate.
