One Paycheck From Disaster
As the economy turns downward across the world not just Canada and the United States more and more people are a single paycheck from disaster. Sadly many people think “There are programs that will help if that should happen to me”, however that isn’t always the case! Unemployment runs out and you must go lower and lower in income and desperation these days with the overload of the system to qualify for benefits. In some locations there aren’t even enough beds in the shelters for people without children. To receive assistance in most countries you must have already lost any and all assets that you might have had.
It doesn’t have to be a lost job either. I myself faced this issue when I had a serious medical emergency. Yes, I have health insurance, two policies actually. But if you are unfortunate enough to have your medical emergency near the end of your policy year as I did, the stop loss maximum can be doubled for a single event, as the care I received fell partly in one year and the rest in another! Look at your own emergency fund, can it handle double your yearly maximum costs before you must look at liquidating assets?
Everyone must have some sort of back up. It is a vital prep to insure your quality of life. See the Bio Prepper’s advice and tips on developing this imperative prep at the link below
