Why Keep Those Old Cook Books?

I have a bunch of old cookbooks that I purchased years ago and also have several that were passed on to me by family. Now days I am told they are a waste of space in the kitchen. I do have and use an electronic recipe reader that contains all the recipes my family uses or would like to try “someday”. So why keep the cook books?  and why the older the better?
