Preppers have been concerned about the availability of antibiotics during and after a major SHTF event for as long as the term “prepper” has been applied. We’ve discussed the feasibility of stockpiling or even using Veterinary grade drugs in a pinch. Now it is becoming of concern to health officials particularly in the United States.

Why in the USA particularly? You might be surprised to learn that in part this is due to the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Not just because a larger stock of antibiotics and other necessary medical supplies like saline solution were needed to treat the injured and sick after the storm but actually because of the path the destructive storm chose to take wiping out or putting out of commission our drug producing locations! Puerto Rico especially. Then add tariff wars with China and other eastern countries and the USA has an antibiotic crisis.

At first our allies were able to step in and assist us in obtaining the necessary supplies, but as of  just this past June 10% of Puerto Rico was STILL without dependable power sources. How does this effect our medical resources? For some answers on that question see the featured link below from Forbes.
