Home invasions are quite different from home robberies or a burglary. The perpetrators in an invasion are doing just that invading your home not with the purpose of simply taking away goods and valuables. But with the intent of doing you the occupant harm.

I am giving away my age here, but I recall a time when the idea of someone entering your home while you were in it for the purpose of committing any crime was practically unheard of. As a youngster I remember never locking a door at night and in warm weather leaving every window in the house wide open for the cool night air.  You being in the home itself was home defense against crime! With home invasion the opposite is true.
