Grocery Store Grows Its Own Organic Veggies on Rooftop
I love this idea! Growing veggies where they are sold, isn’t a new idea. Even gardening on rooftops is an old idea. But for an actual grocery store to take advantage of these old ideas in a new way is brilliant.
The concept leaves me with a number of questions however, on the feasibility and profitability of doing so. How many structural changes would be necessary to make the weight of a garden on the roof be required to be safe? I know my small-town local grocer would not be able to sell enough to make this a viable option and in larger towns/cities would they be able to produce enough? How would this effect their purchasing from local venders?
No matter what the answers to my questions about the feasibility roof top gardens maintained by local grocers is definitely an idea worth looking at. See additional information on the store and its unique project at the featured link below
