Folding Canoe

I came across this awesome canoe on Design Boom in their DIY section. Now this DIY section is for designers and not us everyday Joes. So, there are no step-by-step directions, actually no directions at all. This project was submitted by an Israeli designer Ori Levin. Who created this prototype in his own studio.

It’s a full-sized canoe that’s completely collapsible and can be stored in a bag that’s only 5 x 9 x 28 inches. This means you could have a boat in your backpack! It weighs just 9 pounds, and he says he can assemble in about 5 minutes. Think about all the bug out uses for an item like this! Especially in an area with flooding issues or with many bodies of water. Or just for fun camping and river trips.

I live in such an area and my little portable boat is a monster compared to this one. So, I went in search of a vender. I was unable to locate one. 🙁 However, if you are a clever DIY’er you could use his pictures and idea to create your own. Or perhaps one of our members does know where one could be purchased.
