Finding Urban Water after the SHTF
Everyone hopes they are going to luck out and find themselves next to a sparkling clear safe drinking water source during and after a SHTF event. The chances of that are really low even if you have your own well or live next to a clean water source. Many now viable water sources in rural areas will be contaminated by the event and as is always said by those who believe in the rule of Murphy’s law, if it can go wrong, it will. Chances are you could be away from your most secure location when the SHTF.
Those who regularly visit, work in, or live in an urban area find they have more reason for concern when it comes to the fact that water will become precious and drinkable water much harder to find. I live in an area where rain fall is plentiful and have been told by other preppers in my area “whew at least water won’t be too big of an issue for us, we can just catch rainwater” possibly true unless of course our SHTF event involves the eruption of one of our many volcanoes, then our rainwater could be contaminated for years after!
So where can water be found in one of those circumstances in an urban area? The readers of Survival Prepper have contributed to a list of where they would seek out water. See their ideas at the featured link and let us know if you have other ideas!
