The Dream or Off Grid?
If you grew up in the USA you know that the meaning behind the saying “Living the American dream” is usually interpreted as being going from humble beginnings to a wealthy life of opulence. Because in America it is believed that if you work hard anything can be possible. Most of our parents grew up in a time when poverty forced a lifestyle and the idea of choosing how you wanted to live was tied to finances.
However, many of my generation and those younger are changing the interpretation of that saying to meaning living well within your chosen life style and finding happiness in what you work for. For more and more people this means opting out of the rat race and the chase of the dollar and focusing on a more simple less opulent life.
So which generations version of the American Dream is really the dream? Are you still wondering which direction is the dream for you? See one opinion on what the new American dream is at the link below
