A Dozen Situational Awareness Tips
I have to wonder if the author of this article was speaking to the small town in which I currently reside! I moved here from the city where I lived in the suburbs and commuted into the city for work. I loved the little suburb that I had moved into. I raised my two oldest children there. But when you love some place you can guess others will as well. We became one of the fastest growing burbs in the state. By the time I left it was no longer a suburb but a full blown city on its own. The process took all of 10 years.
By then my career had enough flexibility to allow me to choose to raise the remainder of my children in a smaller less urban setting and we moved to a typical small rural town. That was 12 years ago…. it surprisingly hasn’t grown much but the demographics have changed substantially. This change has not been positive. I realized as did the author of our featured article linked below from Preparedness Advice that I had become lax about my situational awareness. Then local news began to jolt me back to old habits. True situational awareness is something that becomes a part of you and is indeed habit.
