Dogs, Cats, and Covid-19
This virus is not gone now that the lock downs are over. We now just have a leg up on how to treat those who contract it and become very very ill. But it’s mutating constantly. So what about our pets?
It’s been said that our pets, both cats and dogs can become infected with COVID-19.
But I must ask about the accuracy of those tests done on pets as compared to those given to humans. Many companies have come out with tests for humans, however they are notoriously prone to false results. Wouldn’t it be the same of those developed for pets?
For the moment let’s assume that the pet tests are accurate in the case in the article. It leads me to have additional questions. How did they become infected? If’ it’s past from their owners to them, could it be passed the other way as well? Can my dog infect my cat? Or can one dog infect another? What symptoms should we be watching for in our pets? Is it treatable in pets? Are they dying like their human counterparts?
Hopefully we can get some answers to those and other questions in the featured article below
Although as of this posting… I am unaware of any tests for pets available for purchase, nor of any pet passing the virus on to humans or even other pets… But it is worth thinking about before this virus throws us another curve.
