DIY Wooden Pallet Rabbit Hutch
Every critter on the homestead needs its own space and appropriate housing. This is true whether they are kept as pets or livestock. Including rabbits! Their pen or housing is called a hutch. You can of course purchase a hutch. You can see them HERE from the bare minimum priced at about $56 USD to hundreds of dollars for the deluxe models.
With a little sweat equity you can reduce that price to around $20 by building one yourself using wood pallets. Just remember when choosing a pallet, always get those that are heat treated. They will be stamped “HT” or “heat treated” The unmarked ones are usually treated with chemicals and that could harm the rabbits.
This would make a great family project! Rabbits are allowed in most locations and are relatively easy to care for. See the instructions for the one built by the Cuthills featured on Mother Earth News at the featured link
