(Two links! 1 for the complete DIY’er and 1 for the DIY’er kit)
One universal issue shared by all those that prep, have children or low square footage homes, is storage space! How and where do we find more space and if possible can it be hidden in plain sight? Also quite popular with the rate of home invasions and the possibility of a SHTF situation where hiding yourself could be advantageous a strong lock on the inside of this could make a nice safe room. Making the hidden portion of your storage even more private means doing it as a DIY project.
Personally I feel the hidden bookcase has been a bit overdone. BUT for those of us who aren’t really carpentry educated and don’t have the creative building skills to come up with plans on our own could really use these kinds of step by step instructions altered a bit to fit another hidden pivot type project.
There is also the ‘real life’ thought process to consider here… we see these hidden rooms and pivot bookcases on television and in movies but how many of us have actually seen one in a home? Most of us will answer never! So for the purpose of immediate use no one is really going to be looking for a hidden room behind a book case or anything else in an urgent quick scenario, this includes those you may be hiding from! So over used or not, the concept gives you and your group some additional time to prep to fight back or hide from a cursory search. Click on the titled link below to see step by step DIY instructions on getting all that and more at a reasonable DIY price!
