DIY Converting a Pressure Cooker to a Still
Whether you enjoy a cocktail once and again or not, being able to make a still is good in times of crisis. A still can make unsafe water drinkable and make alcohol for medical use or barter.
Your pressure cooker is a sturdy piece of kitchen equipment and can take a lot of abuse and continue to be worth it’s weight. Most homesteaders and preppers already own a couple… if you don’t then I would recommend you look in your local second hand store. Many people always plan to use one next canning season and never do! I got my second stove top pressure cooker for a fraction of it’s value! (Having a couple saves me time as I can rotate between them during canning season and always have one going) My “going to use next year” equipment is my first use of a new electric pressure cooker. A gift from a dear friend.
Maybe if I love it, I will convert one of my stove top models to a still! Especially if the crisis doesn’t involve a grid down scenario and we still have power. See how to do so at the instructables link below
