DIY 5 Gallon Bucket Fish Trap
This is a neat update on the native American Primitive Funnel Fish Trap made with a 5 gallon bucket rather than woven twigs. It is a great way to passively catch fish. No sitting with a rod and reel which is fun, but not as productive. You can only do so many other things while holding on to a fishing pole! If you’re in a situation where there is a lot of other work to be done, catching dinner while gathering firewood or other chores can be a life saver.
It’s easy enough to make yourself and could also be a fun project with the family’s involvement as well. I’ve found the joy that comes with the catch doesn’t change because it is in a bucket rather than with a pole! It still feels very self sufficient.
