Overcoming Deadly Psychological Traps in an Emergency
People often assume that they are immune to the emotional impact of an emergency. We have all seen a key board warrior or two comment here or there that they would never panic and would shoot to kill without thought. And then there are the over thinkers who want to discuss things in a democratic manner while the crisis is happening, they claim they would never do this or that to survive. Who knows maybe they are both right! But the general majority are typical human beings who all react both differently and alike in many cases to chaos.
Being overconfident or unsure are both psychological pit falls we will have to deal with during an emergency scenario. Whether the panic is our own or that of someone, maybe even a stranger near us at the time that the SHTF. You may handle a crisis stoically and logically while the person next to you is screaming their head off. This only makes your logical approach harder to maintain as it adds to the chaos. Or your logical approach may not seem so logical to others around you, who think you haven’t got a clue.
