Cutting Ounces and Inches Off Your Bug Out Bag
I want everything including the kitchen sink, washer, dryer, etc.. in my bug out bag! If I could pull it off we would bug out in a moving truck! Admit it a whole lot of you would too!
The featured article in this post provides tips on reducing what it says are pounds and ounces. However, one of the tips says to use space bags for extra clothing (would work for anything cloth) this will indeed shave inches off your bug out bag. But it will not cut down the weight. Those items will take up less room if they are packed in a space bag, but they will weigh the same amount as they did prior to condensing. I use them all the time when traveling because they are so space saving. But I have paid more than my share in overweight luggage fees!
My own biggest tip for cutting down on the weight of your bag is duel purpose items. If you can add one item rather than two or three and use it for those same tasks you will save pounds. See the tips of Survival Life linked below
