Considerations When Burying a Cache

A cache is actually less a thing and more a place. A secret hiding place where valuables are hidden with the assumption that you will come back at some point to retrieve them.

Caches do not have to be buried in the ground necessarily. But burying survival supplies makes sense in most situations. Hidden supplies in your home can be destroyed by fire, earthquake, hurricane, or even found and stolen. To avoid this many preppers keep a separate cache stored some distance from their home and the bulk of their other supplies.

This hidden prep usually holds enough necessities to get them from that particular location to their bug out location or to another pre-planned stop and another cache along the way.
