Tiny houses have become a whole new way of living for a large number of the population. In part because they are so affordable. The idea of downsizing to your minimal needs is very a attractive concept and can be a ‘green’ lifestyle. But are you really ready to go minimalist?

If you’re planning on using your tiny house as a bug out location there are a lot of pluses to doing so. They are less expensive than building what would be considered an average size shelter on your land. Because they are smaller they are easier to make ‘green’ and less costly usually to maintain. Another plus of the tiny house is the extra land it leaves for live stock, gardens, and fruit trees and bushes on the remaining property. In a SHTF scenario they would be an awesome choice for bugging out to as long as you plan on going with only one or possibly two people per house. Any more than that would be so overcrowded it might be unbearable for any length of time. However, if your group is financially able to purchase one piece of land where you could each build a tiny house and still have room for the necessary crops and critters. It might appear ideal.

Now if you’re considering a tiny house for daily life in normal times, there is a whole different set of issues to consider. How small can you really live the life you have today in? Where will you put it? etc.. For an entire list of considerations before joining the tiny house movement see the link below for questions to pose to yourself before jumping in!
