Cities Prepare for Election Day Unrest- Should You?
I know I am in a way breaking our own rules by referencing an election in itself political. We are not throwing our support behind one candidate or party. We are not speaking to the process nor a particular party. Our concern in this post is you, the individual.
Ordinarily we avoid politics for a couple of reasons, first because we don’t care which party or candidate you support. That is not our concern nor our business. Our concern is to help each and everyone of you to make it through any crisis scenario that could befall you and your family. Under normal circumstances this wouldn’t include election day. But this year is different. This year the chances of violence at the polls, and/or after the polls close through the final announcement of a confirmed or even a probable winner and perhaps for some time after is a real threat.
Secondly, because getting political causes our posts and page to be censored by the social media sites we post on. Sometimes it depends upon which side the creator backs and some times it’s anything deemed to be political. Even something as simple as posts on recycling, solar power, etc… have been “deemed” political on some sites. So why bother posting about this if we are going to be limited in our distribution? Less than 1% of our followers will ever see this. Because if we warn even that small number and they warn or share this post with their friends or family… maybe just maybe there will be less violence and fewer innocents harmed as a result and that is our ultimate goal in publishing this page in the first place!
The featured link speaks to cities that are preparing for violence and civil unrest on election day. As an individual, your preps wouldn’t be the same. But I have to say, that if a city feels the need to prepare, the individual should as well! Don’t feel you are immune because you don’t happen to live in the cities mentioned in the featured article. One of the most insidious parts of terrorism is that it often strikes where it is lest expected and it only takes one crazy to wreak havoc on your life and well being. If you take precautions what do you lose if nothing happens in your area?
Think about the risks in your location and what you can do to lower your chances of being caught in any chaos. See the featured link below on what steps some cities are taking to protect their citizens.
