Burn Injuries On and Off The Grid
Other than excessive bleeding these are the types of injuries that frighten me the most. I have I have a close relative who was burned badly enough to require skin grafts (much worse than is pictured above) and saw the pain, infection risks and long term skin damage that can accompany a burn. These mitigating issues are a risk and concern during the best of times when medical care can be quickly obtained for the victim.
What if you are the first responder or during or after an event the only responder? Off grid the risk for burns raises significantly and the risks associated with burns do as well. Properly administering 1st aid and on going treatment if medical care isn’t available is a critical skill. One everyone should know now and especially after/during a SHTF event.
