Bug Out Bag Basics
No matter whether you are a beginner, updating your bag, adding a member to your group/family, or changing items by season or location, we can all use additional information on what basics should be in the bag. It’s a good base for everyone to start from especially beginners. There are so many little things we tend to overlook and that is why I always advise the experienced prepper to take the opportunity when one of these articles come up to take a second or even a third look at their own bag.
I am an experienced traveler and I tend to be … well let’s say a bit overly organized. But on my very last trip this year. I seemed to frankly have lost my mind and remembered all the big items that were necessary to accomplish the purpose of the trip but forgot in my haste and during a stressful time many of the little items that make the big items work! This can also apply to bugging out. In a major crisis scenario everyone is going to be reacting to the chaos. Including you no matter how hard to try to remain calm and thinking clearly. We are all human and emotional beings. If you have your bag packed and plan to just add this or that before getting out of dodge for sure according to Murphy’s law that will be the one item left behind! Kind of like the nervous first time dad trying to get his laboring wife to the delivery room who remembers, the keys, mom’s bag, the baby’s bag, and even the insurance information but drives off without his wife!
