Tea tree oil is a natural anti-bacterial and has anti-fungal properties as well. Mainly used for health and beauty products but it can also be used for cleaning purposes! Ordinarily I would never recommend you put anything used in a cleaning product on your skin, however, part of what is wonderful about natural oils is their versatility. Not only does tea tree oil remove mold and mildew but prohibits its regrowth.
This information is particularly good to have if your property has been through a flood where mold and mildew is one of the most devastating after effects. Even when using natural cleaning products please protect your lungs from the actual mold spores themselves by wearing a mask while in areas where mold is growing. For your health and well being wear the mask and insure the area you are working in is well ventilated.
Many folks will simply say – just use bleach… bleach is harsh and can break down the paint and finishes on your walls and ceilings.
