When you live near a border you can’t help but wonder about the option of avoiding some ramifications of a SHTF event by crossing the border. I can only assume this is also true for those of you who live near the southern border of Mexico as well as those of us who live near the Northern border with Canada. Culturally the Canadians are more similar to those in the states including fewer language differences for those actually along the border than in Mexico.

Crossing the border even during a SHTF event may not be near as easy as you might think. The Canadians also have some strict immigration laws. I don’t live too far from one of the northern borders and Canada and have always had it in the back of my mind as part of a backup plan. I can only hope if the time ever comes that the situation is dire enough that the Canadians as our allies will loosen those restrictions and speed up the process of allowing those fleeing to enter.

Whether it is a far fetched backup plan or a first route bug out for you, there are some things you will want to know and consider. Learn about some of those issues at our featured link below from Secrets of Survival
