Trapping and Prepping Skunk for Eating
Hunting post SHTF will become imperative for the majority of us. Game will become scarce in some areas and frankly beggars can’t be choosers. Skunk was nowhere on my list of edible critters until reading the featured blog from Survival Cache. I apparently wrongly assumed that they were not safe nor good to eat. I associate skunk, as I would guess the rest of you do too, with a nasty smell which could and indeed would perforate the meat rendering it useless. I thought that all skunks sprayed not just when agitated but would also do so “automatically” upon their death as all bodily functions release when the body no longer has muscle control, intentional or natural.
The featured blog linked below gives you detailed instructions for both dispatching the skunk and cleaning it without releasing the spray. Still not my first choice for eating honestly but no longer on my absolutely not list either!
