Modern Bunker Design For Family of 6 or Connect for Community
Back during the days of the cold war, bunkers were a luxury item based on very limited variety of cookie cutter plans and dug into the home owner’s back yard. These bunkers were top notch 1950’s design and usually were made to house a family of 4 for several months. Ordinarily comprised of a very basic living and combined sleeping area with the bulk of the space dedicated to storing those goods gathered and stockpiled for the feared event.
These days a bunker is even more of a luxury when purchased and built by contractors. The cost of real estate making home ownership harder for this generation to obtain. However, that is where the similarities end! Now when planning a shelter comfort isn’t just an option but a standard expectation and the designs are more luxurious than some people’s day to day living quarters! They have even become advanced enough to allow for the human need of community and allow what could almost be considered a miniature neighborhood all underground and secure from the rest of the world.
Although bunkers are still a costly venture (even if you DIY) they are now mainstream enough that you can put them on your wish or must have list for building your home or even when purchasing a pre-owned home and neither the architect nor the realtor will make assumptions about your sanity!
